Victorum Athletics

Victorum is the Latin word for conquest, or to utterly vanquish and is inspired by 1 Corinthians 15:57.  At Victorum Athletics we believe that you can have #victorythroughperseverance. If your goal is to become a better Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner, defeat the effects of weight gain, overcome inner struggles, or just become a better you, if you persevere, you will have Victorum.

Victorum Athletics started out as a MBA summer project designed to support and help veterans, active duty military personnel, and their families.  As a Pepperdine graduate student, Frank Balcorta was given the task of creating a business that helps a social issue while still becoming profitable.  Being a veteran of both the enduring freedom and Iraqi freedom campaigns, Frank was passionate about helping and raising awareness to both the high suicide rate of veterans, as well as helping returning active duty military members reconnect with their families.  He saw how Brazilian Jiu Jitsu helped him, and how it would be able to help others.

In July of 2017, Frank and his wife Lynda, partnered up with Ian Salinas and Richie Beigel to start Victorum athletics with the goal of teaching and training as many veterans and active duty personnel as possible for free.  With help of another Veteran, they were able to secure a space inside of another gym and started their mission.  It was not too long before they started to receive support and begin teaching Brazilian Jiu to others in the community, and by October of 2017 it was time to secure their own facility.

Based out of Lancaster Ca, Victorum Athletics occupies a 3,600 sq ft state of the art facility designed to support calmness, serenity and comradery.  We feel it is of upmost importance to maintain a humble and peaceful environment for all those who train in order to get to most out of what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has to offer.

Victorum Athletics is committed to bettering the lives of our members through the gentle art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Our school adheres to the teaching principles of dialog and active participation to foster education and self-expression. We want all of our students to develop their skill set even further, and push themselves to be the greatest they can be, while knowing that they are also contributing and helping a cause greater then themselves.
